Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Thanks, and I was hoping to elect a repose on the Calcutta D. Yes, it's a 100 sized bought from Jun at Japan Tackle. It's a fine caster, comfortable, and a seemingly potent little reel with it's non-handle side being "50" sized. It thrives on my Loomis CBR 785 and has plenty of cranking power for run of the mill crankin'.
The CNQ100HG (that you spotted for me...thanks again!) is indeed in the fold and it's going to live on a St Croix Legend Elite EC70MF.
I'm retiring in 3 days, so the additions of the 100HG and BFS are my own little retirement gifts to me.
I went a little nuts on the photos, but I have to turn in my iPad before I retire.
Beautiful reels. I have often considered the Calcutta 101D, which has the option of an aftermarket avail spool. I have the Ds in sizes 200 to 400 and really like them. I also have the Conquest 101 and BFs - great reels - which were gifts to myself because I work too much and need some comfort since I fish too little :-)
Huge congrats on the coming retirement. I hope you get many years of fantastic fishing time.

Congrats on retirement! Perfect gifts and may they serve you well...
The 100D are sleeper reels, not much airtime due to the Conquests and Conquest BFS but I agree, it's a fine caster.

My first baitcaster was a Ambassadeur 5000 in the 70's. The 5000c was a major improvement. Fell in love with the 2500Cs. In the 80's moved on to Daiwa reel with the magnets. Currently got my first monoblock , my first round reel in 40 years. Wow, not your grandfather's round reel.

I've just managed to find a Calcutta 250 TE DC in absolutely immaculate condition throughout, not a scratch of any sort... (Looks to be just lined and the put in storage itself until sale)...

Just performed a full tear down and rebuild, then straight into storage... Would be nice to find one in used condition to use.
