Daiwa Coastal/Tatula HD 34mm spool options

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Daiwa Coastal/Tatula HD 34mm spool options

Post by MountainMan 83 » Mon Apr 01, 2019 4:40 pm

Just picked up a coastal, going to mainly use it as a frogging/walking bait/big jig reel. Going to ditch the hundy handle and knobs and go with a 90mm. For this, I feel the spool is too deep. Wondering if anyone knows of another spool option? Not sure if there is a HLC spool that will fit this reel. Thanks.

The Daiwa Coastal TWS is a 36mm spool so none of the regular Tatula 34mm spools will work, including the HLC. Your best bet is the spool from the JDM Tatula 153. Its shallower and has Mag Z.

Ah yes, you're right. That 153 spool looks nice. Thank you!
