Don't shoot the messenger...

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

This made me look into their Envy Black 2 rods, would have a hard time dropping over $300 on one of those. The guides are good, and the graphite seems quality (46 TON), but that reel seat... Looks like plastic chrome I see stuck all over trucks driving around here. At that price I would have a hard time not getting a quality Japanese made rod or equivalent St. Croix.

Wonder what this top secret reel will have this time? The Concept Z has been on TW's best seller list and they did seem to sell pretty good. Competition isn't a bad thing, even for those of us who are Daiwa/Shimano only, just drives innovation and offers more to consumers.

Some could argue that they dont understand why anyone would spend more than $100 on a reel or rod.

Maybe it's just a Daiwa.
This is the way.

Sure, the kind of fisherman that fishes once a month on the weekend. Probably the same person that has a $900 cellphone that he "upgrades" every year, but spending over $100 on a reel its "too expensive".

Daiwa has the colors as well, and their paint doesn't look like a $9.99 spray can from your local hardware store.

Precisely. Like the old saying goes, "there's an a$$ for every seat".

I'm just down to being a weekend worrior myself. But, with my limited time I get to go out, I wanna enjoy the finer things. I have $100 reels, all the way up to $400 reels. It all depends on what you are really passionate about.

Hilarious! Just this past weekend I took a member of another forum out fishing and it was just as stated... an $800 phone and a $40 Kastking reel on a Shakespeare $20 rod.

Go figure...

Oh, and he dropped the phone in the water too... cost him $100 to replace with insurance and all... but still swinging away with the cheap stuff for the fish...

Saw a post on another well known forum and someone for advise on high end reel. There were about 20 responses and every one told him not to waste his money. ](*,)

If it's the same forum, try being the one to refute a moderators dumb advise and watch how fast you get a threat to being banned.

Those guys at BR are a bunch of idiots. One of the mods is actually a cool guy, but aside from him, the other 2 mods I knew got kicked off or quit because of the owner, Glenn. I quit that forum over 3 yrs ago, after being temporarily banned from the buy/sell/trade area for "selling too much". I had sold 2 items in the previous 2 months. 3 of his own mods went to bat for me and he lifted the ban the next day, but I called him a Nazi and told him I wouldnt be back. Man, I dont know how that forum is still in existence. ](*,)
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
