Daiwa T3 1016 Reels today...

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Do the t3s have different handle lengths, does any one know the lengths of the stock handles?

I sold all mine last year but my son still has a few. They’re the most underrated Daiwa reel imo. Excellent do everything reel. I had mine for several years and beyond bearings I didn’t touch them.

I believe the 1016 came with a 90, but all others (FX, MX, JDM) came with the typical jdm 80mm

No, it has the same 80mm handle found on the sv105 and SS SV.
This is the way.

Since I bought the ballistics and got them way cheap, it didn't hurt to much to upgrade spools, and bearings. The last one I got I picked up a mint one for $45. I never changed out the handles but after reading this thread I may look around for a handle substitute for all four.

Ordered a 8.1 Lefty T3 SV off ebay from Japan, hope the reel comes looking like it does in the pictures.

Very nice! I think my next reel might be one of those variants. Let us know how you like it.

If the spools performance doesn't quite light your fire, look to the G1 1012SV....OR, the Zpi nrc001M

Quick question, does anyone know where to get the hood part of the reel just in case it snaps off?

Personally I like the T3 ballistic 100. I just like it a little bit better with a different spool, a OG Zillion drag star and some sweet bearings. The only thing I never considered was changing out the handle. But I did get rid of the of the nut cover and installed the
dark grey zillion handle nut. I ordered the small nut plate and when they come in im going to slightly "modify" the hole to fit.
Great all around reel.
