Are all new zillions made in Thailand?
I ran across some 9.1 geared zillion sv tw reels for sale advertised as being Japanese made. I thought only the og zillions were made in Japan, am I wrong?
Re: Are all new zillions made in Thailand?
To my knowledge there are no Zillion SV TW's made in Japan. Have them show you the box or the bottom of the reel.

It is most likely a JDM reel. Made in Thailand for the Japanese market would be my guess.

Even if they were assembled in Japan, it isn't created in the Japanese factory. Thailand did the CT Tatula and SV TW Zillion bodies and other parts, so even if there were special models listed that way, they originally came from the Thailand plant. Just like there was a recent Daiwa spinning reel that was normally made in China, but some models were listed as made in Japan. I would assume the case with those spinning reels is they were produced in the same place but assembled and quality checked in the Japanese factory. Just too difficult to have both places producing for small runs.

Seller thought JDM is the same as made in Japan, they were indeed made in Thailand.

That and the 5.5. That 9.1 is killer for frogs.
This is the way.

I'm torn at the moment on using this one for frogs, I'm currently using a 7.9 jdream but thinking seriously about switching them. If my zillion for rattletraps keeps acting flaky, it'll be switched for sure.
