Anybody else see the picture of the new Tatula Elite that copycat site posted on Instagram? Looks to be based off the current model Tat 100. I'll be interested to learn more about this one

Looks like it is based off the new 100 platform and has an aluminum handle sideplate. It also has a distance tuned Magforce Z spool. It looks better than the 100 but still could use a higher end looking thumbar. Thicker/squishier knobs to help make the reel more refined feeling would also have been a nice addition. Shimano seems to understand this. The knobs on the Tatula 100 are a little thin and hard although still nice.

They need something to bridge the gap between the Fuego and $300 Zillion reels. The Tatula 100 platform has some potential to make some nice variants. I like the direction this new Elite is going. I was expecting there to be a stiff inductor spring variant of the Tatula 100 in a new Type R but this will do. I want the SV version to also have the aluminum handle side plate and borrow the zero adjuster knobs and handle nut lock plate from the higher end Daiwa for a high end look.

If it has an aluminum side plate, it sounds like a winner to me. Still, I'm a sucker for a free floating spool.

Spool is '5 grams lighter', so that should put it at 13 grams.

Sources indicate that there will be two version of the Tatula Elite reel. The one pictured for normal use, and one with a shallower spool design for pitching. To be released at ICast.

Is this going to be called an "SV" spool or something different?

No one Ive heard mention this reel has used the term SV, thats what I actually hoped they would do so you could put a ZPI Tat SV spool in a 100.

No SV spools in the Elites. You would have to get the new Coastal.

Hm, they're saying its a lighter spool than the normal 100, but not SV. And the P/F version seems to be shallower and ported so I'm assuming it's lighter still?

The Tatula Elite P/F spool shows 15g on the pre-release literature. The Tatula Elite Long Cast shows 14g. Another important note about these two reels is the aluminum handle side plate. These reels are solid and in the brief time I've fished them, I think they will be well received.
