ICAST 2019

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

coastal sv , same frame as the tatula elite. they tried to tell me the coastal and the elite frame is slightly different than the tatula 100 but , visually I couldn't see a difference. they said something like "smoothing out some edges" but , idk..

So this is it from Daiwa??? Nothing really "new" new??? No big deal, I am fine with the current upper echelon, just wanted something more I guess...

Overall I’m somewhat disappointed. Over the last two ICASTs, I have not seen any new rods or reels that I would consider to be a worthwhile improvement over what I am currently using. Which suits me fine!

Hey E73Bass. Where is the new Zillion CT. Did your source screw up and say CT instead of HD  or is the reel coming out at a later date.
WAIT FOR IT ! ......

If they didn't announce it at iCast, I imagine we are going to be waiting a while.

You are probably right...about the time we heard about the Steez CT.

Sure the Admira is light, but how many people really like flashy reels like that? Part of the reason I've stayed away from Daiwa is the flashy plasticky look that a lot of their reels, even the expensive ones, seem to have.
So tell me what looks plasticky about this one. I'm not a flashy kind of guy, but this is one of my favorites out of all the Alphas variants I've owned over the years. I sold off most of them, but kept this one and an Alphas SV105P.

Dumb question: Is the coastal on the new steez ct frame with a different side plate or is the picture just kind of ‘squeezed?
There are no dumb questions when it comes to Daiwa's latest offerings
It's on a 34mm platform, so no.
p.s. There is nothing "coastal" about the Coastal other than the blue color.
So are you saying the SV spool on the new coastal isnt deeper?

I do miss mine, it sucked when I bought it but the spool bearing was bad. Put in new ones and it was much better and then it managed to some how come loose on the front deck and it now resides near rocky creek in deadman bay in about 9ft of water along with a st criox rod.

Yes... You are correct ... and the 2 models that have followed since this original are a tad better. I owned this one you show and when the upgraded Zillion versuon was introduced... I got rid of the OG coastal.

My mistake the Zillion Coastal ( now discontinued) was a step up in quality and a different animal.

I will agree with that, though the original was a solid reel for it's time.
