ICAST 2019

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Ahhhhhh.....No !

Old stock from 2015...
Not what’s coming fellas..it will be a ICAST announcement for late 2019——early 2020 release with current SV TW version to start being blown out on Black Friday.

The above mentioned Z2020 was a 2011-2015 release.

I thought those handle knobs looked dated..funny thing is I don't remember that reel being on the jdm market at all.

It was on all the Japanese sites at the time.
Good place to always look for the most updated as well as archived JDM Daiwa reels is ^^^^^ scroll up to Japan Tackle(TT sponser forever). Jun pretty much keeps the most updated USA models on his site also.

BTW the original Z2020 was Mfg from (2011-2015) and replaced by this one in 2016 and is a current production version.

But definitely not the new upcoming 70 size Zillion.

Stay Tuned.

Oooops.... probably should not assume about a 70 sized spool ... my apologies...recently I was just told by a very good source from within the distribution/sales network that there will be a Zillion CT coming soon and current models will be blown out around Black Friday as this new Zillion CT will be a late 2019/early 2020 release.

Hopefully it will bring some distinction back to the Zillion line and become a new true classic.

Doubt it for now unless they do a special 60th anniversary model in a special paint job.

The older versions definately fullfilled the “T” side ... but not the “C” side in Daiwas recent CT (compact and tough) push.

I'll be at icast the first day. I'll get some pics up of the new reels on the 10th.

A new Zillion is obvious. The question is will it be based off the Tatula 100 platform or the Morethan/Steez A?

I think it would be really cool to attend an iCast and be able to engage with the products and possibly hear some rumors of what might be actually coming to the 2020 Japanese Fishing Expo's.
In terms of actual items that would interest the enthusiest level angler/collector/spectator...it seems to end up bieng a dud fest.
The last couple of years of iCast threads on TT seem to stop on a dime of dissapointment. What ends actually exposed at iCast turns out to be all foam and no beer.
Looking through the last couple of years of award winning gems:
2017
1. The Flounder Sampler Pack by Eagle Claw
2. A 5 gallon bucket (Yeti)
3. The 13 Fishing Fate Black rod (that is actually green)
2018
1. Fish Sandles (look like a LMB)
2. A Cooler that has wheels (Yeti)
3. Freddy the Frog and Neko Nail Skirt (tie)

I think the biggest hit at the show this year will be the 19 Stradic. A reel beloved in the US with an in-kind introduction at iCast.
You can see a full pre-release expose here..
https://www.shimanofish.com.au/content/ ... ic-fl.html

There have been no major manufacture teasers, no leaks, no beer. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised..

Free-floating 1016 spool would work in either, whether its the steez a or tatula 100-basically the same frame with slight differences. I suppose it would be closer to the steez a, if given the spool with no long shaft, though. 70 size seems to indicate an all-new aluminum frame and brass gears, but similar to the Steez CT. How much sense would it make to use the current zillion frame and put spacers in it, like they did with the alphas ct? IMO, there would be no appeal to a zillion with the current frame, then add spacers and a lower-capacity spool. Maybe there will be both? That would be the best solution!
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
