It looks like a 2018-19 Calcutta Conquest 300 or 400 may be in my near future. I plan on using it for fishing for snook and tarpon in the inlets. The issue of course is that it is not a regularly stocked reel so I will have to order it sight unseen. The JDM versions of this reel are different from the ones here and cost about $100 less. Can anyone tell me the differences?
Also I'm trying to figure out the sizes of the reels but have nothing to go by. I have a 2 older Daiwa Millionaires, a CVZ300 & 253. I think these are comparable in size to the Daiwa Lunas? And I also have a Pluton 200H. I'd like the Conquest that I get to be "in-between" the size of the 253 & 300. I know that over the years the CQ's have gotten smaller. Anyone know how these newer Calcuttas CQ's compare in size?

The differences between the 300 and 400 is only the spool width and subsuquintly the frame size. The spool width on the 300 is 22mm and the spool width on the 400 is 30.5mm, this also constitutes the difference in frame size and about a 5-10 gram differential in overall wieght, depending on what site you look at.

Inlet snook and tarpon bieng the target, either will work just depends on what size PE you will be using and what size tarpon you expect to wrangle with..Your only looking at 15# of drag on either reel, so you'll have a tough time locking down a big tarpon in a inlet, especially with a fast moving tide.

The's good to know. Thanks for the info. I'm curious how you arrived at those spool width measurements? I took a caliper to both my Millionaire CVZ's and measured the inside of the spool up towards the top at it's widest part. Using this method my 300CVZ measured 38mm, and the 253CVZ measured 26mm. If this is correct then the 300 Conquest is slightly smaller than my 253, and the 400 Conquest would be bigger than the 253, but smaller than the 300CVZ. This is exactly what I'm looking for but would like to confirm my method for taking measurements.

I went ahead and ordered a Conquest 400 from Digitaka. Their communication was, well non-existent but they shipped fast, and I had my reel within a week. Nice.
For those interested here is a pic of the 2018 Conquest 400 compared to Daiwa Pluton 200, and Millionaires 253 & 300. The Conquest 400 is a tad bigger than the 253 and a bit smaller than the CVZ300, which is exactly what I was looking for.
