I thought some of the new daiwa stuff was a little muted. It would be nice though if the new coastal sv wasn't 2 shades of blue though.
It kinda is if you take into account the handle and spool tension compared to the side plates and frame, they have that lighter anodised look.

Lol...this is TT. There's threads dedicated to showing off "gaudy" reels. If you want plain jane looking stuff, Amazon has that.
Lol... there are threads for lots of things. It doesn't mean they represent the most popular opinions. I will say though that it seems like there is a lot of flashy Daiwa love on TT, but maybe the "plain jane" Shimano fans are out there fishing with their reels instead of taking pictures of them...... ;) ;) :laugh1: Just poking fun.

There just isn’t a pool for Shimano like there is Daiwa
Correct me someone if I stand in error but aside from Yumeya
I can’t think of any other after market spools for Shimano
Unlike DAIWA
And I’m just talking spools, when you get into handles drag stars
There’s not as many options as DAiWA. And I buy a lot of spools
Just got a shallow spool for DAIWA that I never heard of. But
I’ll send it to the tackle trap for some stuff

I suppose I should feel lucky that I don't know how much (or how little?) is gained by swapping spools on reels. So far all of my reels are bone stock. I could see the benefit of adding grease, maybe a bearing here or there where possible, though. I'm trying to keep my setups pretty minimal since I don't have a boat nor do I live on a lake, so I'm not fishing every single day and I also don't have ultra-specific combos (like "I use this combo to throw 1/2oz buzzbaits into heavy cover" and "I have 6 different combos for different size worms") so I think playing with spools would be pretty pointless for me. But I am still a newbie as far as I'm concerned, and probably don't know what I'm missing. :)

ZPI, Avail, and KTF make some awesome Shimano spools and my Shimano reels are just as flashy/ gaudy as my Daiwa’s if not more due to their already flashy frames. When it comes to reels if it don’t bling it ain’t my thing.

Those colors totally match. I don't have an issue with that. I still don't like the red lettering on the Morethan, though, and the shine still looks cheap to me, but I haven't seen one in person unfortunately. I mentioned the Zillion SV TW with the blue body and red/orange accents. I think those colors clash regardless of what rod you put it on. Not every Daiwa reel looks bad though ;)
Blue, red and orange clash? Those are the colors of a fine sunset or sunrise. I for one always considered those beautiful thing.

It's either blue+red or blue+orange with the orange/gold T-wing. I'm not a fan of the blue they used and something about the shine just looks cheap to me. But as always it is personal preference.

Here's 93 pages of people showing off dressed up, spool swapped, color matching shimanos.

That reel really isn't all that blue in real life. Picture is deceiving. Which other reels do you find clashy?

i got back into fishing in the 90's when tdz's & chronarchs were the hot items. all this flat black drives me crazy!

i'm actually not using any daiwa's or shimanos in casters these days. i really like the bps johnny morris platinum reels. talk about being a little too blingy
