Help with ?'s on 2019 Stradic, Asian version

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Help with ?'s on 2019 Stradic, Asian version

Post by lifeofRiley » Wed Aug 07, 2019 8:02 pm

I'm chomping at the bit for a new reel and thinking that the new Stradic looks a treat. For my use of spinning reels it has always been a 2500 or 4000 that fits the bill. I use them a lot for moving baits such as inline spinners, stick baits, and crankbaits. I want to try a low gear ratio reel for some of these techniques, but was hoping someone can translate model numbers into USA standards. For gear ratios there is a non-designation, HG and XG. Some models are followed by an S (Shallow spool?) and some models are preceded by a c, no idea what that means. Also if you have a good spot to buy please let me know! On another post a guy said he got one for around $160 from taiwan I think? Hook a brother up on that site!

C means compact, as in C3000 means compact body, it has the body of the 2500 and a deeper spool making it a Compact 3000.

I have heard the C3000 size has a better drag system with carbon VS the 2500 one felt washer in the shallow spool.

As for the gear ratio, if I had to take a guess it would be 5.3:1 with around 29" per crank on the 2500 and 3000 size.

Just make sure you buy the reel that doesn't say any HG or XG on it.
In your case, I believe you are just looking for the Stradic 2500.

I was looking for line capacity of the 2500 model(it has the shallow spool) but didn't find it. Worried that I'd spool it on every cast with a spool like that. 12lb. nanofil and a crankbait and I can throw a country mile.

To clarify for drag material and what is best.

Felt for the 1000 and 2500 on the US models. I am not sure about the global versions. Cross Carbon on the 3000+ sizes.

Felt is better for reels using 10 pound line or lighter. Cross carbon slips a lot under light drag settings. This is why we didn't go to cross carbon for many years in the smaller reels. If you are using 6-8 pound for bass, go with the 2500 and felt washers.

You'll probably clear the spool on the shallow spool models making long casts. I could clear the spool with 6# FC casting a drop shot or shaky head.
