I see that he is not pictured any longer and his name is not on the rod listings. Anyone know what happened besides the obvious

His main sponsor is SK so he is with Lew's now. Many SK pros went lew's when the got strike king.

Makes sense but I'm sure it was hard to go from Daiwa to Lews

Amart went from mb to enigma....

KVD went from Quantum to Zebco.

Ike went from Abu to Lew's. He still hasn't noticed.

I really think it is just about money, not product. For the right money I would certainly change brands, of underwear or almost anything else.

at the level all the pro guys are at with technique, equipment is an after thought.

yeah i agree equipment is somewhat of an afterthought to an extent. If you look on bassmaster it will show the top bait segments of each tournament and usually shows the pros set ups for the baits and you rarely see any high end jdm tackle which is understandable at most because of the loop holes of obtaining it. i dont think any guys are running a fleet of luuxe oltre rods or steex racing designs in the states. it is funny though when you scroll through the pictures you see some nrx rods with crankbaits tied on and a lot of other odd stuff you wouldnt think to do with that particular rod you see quite a bit of metaniums that are the most rashed reels on earth and rarely see a steez if you do also rashed up beyond recognition lol. tons of tatulas on the rods. i dont think they really care whatever they have on deck at the moment get something tied onto it instead of opting for a crank rod they just grab the jig rod and throw a crankbait on it. you can definitely tell on sponsorship videos almost all the time the pro speaking doesnt really know the rod or reels specs weight or anything its quite funny. I could be wrong ive noticed some pros will have some higher end reels and keep them over the years while others like kvd probably gets a new set every year (only speculating) . then you have say someone like steve kennedy he is out there competing with 1990 curado reels and 10 year old kistler rods lol. i read an article that he gets all his reels off of ebay that he competes with. I think when you do fish for a living the enthusiasm is still there for fishing equipment but business opportunities take over in the long run because it is your lively hood and the hobby side of it kind of goes out the window. when i would win a small tournament sometimes and get 600-900 dollars for the win i would sometimes laugh that rod rod and reel combo i bought the week before to use for the tournament with excitement cost more than the winning earnings. I then kind of saw the light of important of sponsorship's especially with sub par equipment if you fished at a pro level.

Hate to see all those "sponsorship" deals, and never pay attention what anglers say about the product they sponsored with.
Would be interesting to see what brands majority would pick, if they have to spend own money.

I will agree to some extent, but......I would think long and hard about fishing KastKing equipment like Brett Chapman does.
