How do you like you’re aldebaran mgl 50?

Just curious to see how those of you who have this reel are liking it, down to casting and retrieve smoothness prior and after more use.

I’ve been fishing an Alde MGL 30 for about a year now and it’s still as smooth today as it was when I bought it. I’ve caught plenty of fish on it, including a 12lb striper on it last week and it handled it fine. My MGL 30 is on my 6’5” medium cumulus with 12lb line, I use it for wacky rigs, small jerkbaits and 1/4 oz yellow magics. It’s not and never has been super smooth say like a Steez but pretty close. In my hands it almost performs as well as my Steez CT and is a lot cheaper. I’d buy another but I’m a little heavy on finesse reels right now

Appreciate the reply and the great useful info. Would you say the smoothness is the same as the non mgl version?

I have two MGL 30 hg, regular 50 and 50HG.
They all feel the same in smoothness.
I'm not throw super finesse lures with mine so I can't say how it would be with really light lures.
I have one 30 mgl on a 6'10" expride for regular sized top water and jerkbaits.
Another 30 mgl on a 6'8" med black cumara for smaller poppers and jerkbaits.

Mine has 12lb super sniper on my 30 and it holds plenty IMO...

The gears are the same in the MGL and the previous non MGL version. Gear feel will be identical between the two. MGL has the new spool and latest SVS braking system.
