TD-Z swept handle and spool options

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Do you have any issues with the drag star rubbing on the cast control cap? I put a Zaion drag star on one of my TDZ's but it rubs the cast control cap.

The long arm stars (Zillion Type-R, Zaion Tatula) tend to barely have enough clearance on some cast control caps. The old Hedgehog Studio cast control cap sits out farther than stock. I know they can be a problem on the OG Zillion. This combination of a long arm star and an aftermarket cap tends to cause rub when your drag is tightened all the way and the cast control cap is loose.

You can put another spacer washer under the drag star. This will give you max drag sooner, but will also not allow you to back the drag off fully.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

No mine doesn't hit the cap. Just felt like it wouldmt loosen all the way but close. I think mine is fine.

Yeah, that's how mine felt. Like it would get mad drag fine but also not back off fully

I fish braid with high drag settings (mostly), so the drag not backing off fully isn't an issue for me personally.

Not an issue for me really and it felt like it backed off most of the way. As much as I'd need anyway.

Hi, I am putting a tatula 90mm swept handle and tatula type r zaion swept drag star on a td-z and was wondering if the tatula handle collar will work or will I not get enough drag star rotation?

First time changing from a straight handle to a swept

Also I have a 1000sv spool, steez 103 r+ spool, and steez 105 limited spool. Which would be best for casting 3/8 - 1/2oz cranks? I was set on the r+ but wondering if the 1000sv would be better

Thanks
I got to try the steez r+ spool yesterday in my tdz and I've used the steez 105sv limited in the TD Ito 103. 3/8 oz jerkbaits with the limited was very nice. Decent distance and great control. The steez r+ was amazing with 3/8-1/2 shallow cranks though and felt just as controlled to me. Could cast much further with the r+ as well but the rods were different so I'm not sure how much that could have effected the results. (One 6'4", the other 7').

Still have the sv1000 to try and now a Fx68 1010 I want to try in the Ito.

Let us know how you like the spools. I'm especially interested in the sv1000. I'm going to pull the trigger on a T3 SV on of these days.
