There’s obviously still a big enough market for that reel to justify continued production. It’s in a class all it’s own when it comes to function and reliability. Is it the smoothest, sleekest and sexiest reel out there ? Of course not. BUT it will still be going looooong after the top tier Shimanos & Daiwas have been laid to rest or rendered obsolete by lack of parts/interest. The SS is the 4WD truck that will get you out of any situation while the rest are the ones that are only driven on weekends. Two completely different animals.

Agree 100 percent about the watered down looks of Daiwa reels now. Mainly silver, black, grey in color. Really wish there were some limited releases of reels with neat colors like the days of old. Why not re-work that ITO green paint in somewhere? What about another white reel or yellow?
They do limited colour runs but they all seem to go to the south east Asian market. Take the Z2020 XH in red by DEPs or the latest yellow Z2020 in left hand only for instance. The red and black SV Ryoga, Plus they have had a few colour options on Tatulas.

If you can't get another replacement, go see a chrome plater and get it electroplated again.

What's crazy about it, the Tournament SS reels have been around since the 80's you can still get a real ultralight size with a pretty high line capacity, lots of record fish caught on them and the 1300 SS is a long loved steelhead reel that is as reliable as a hammer. Some don't want to have to buy a reel every few years because it blew up, certainly not with the fish of a lifetime attached.

I am still waiting on a redo of the TD-Z...maybe 2023 when the platform would be 25 years old! Some of the people on here might not have been born yet lol!

I know right? Add a 90mm swept aluminum or bonus carbon fiber handle, some OG corks (to copy the originals), longer star drag arms, a sturdier paint job option and a 7:1 ratio and I would buy every one they had. Magnesium frame would be nice too but after many years of wanting aluminum that would work too!
