I read that Bantam1 said no replacement for the curado 70.
Re: Any 2020 Shimano reel leaks.....
There’s a comparison video out in English on YouTube between the 16 & new Metanium (FAOS fishing). Using same 7’3mh duckett rod & 17lb floro, casting distance using a rattle bait & small swim bait on a jig head was said to be minimal between the two, maybe a small edge to the 16 model but the new model was more controlled throwing into the wind. Which kinda makes sense b/c any major casting distance over the 16 Metanium, would probably put it on par with the Anteras. I already know the 16 Metanium outcast the DC model. Smoothness was given to the new Metanium & palming was a noticeable difference better with the new one. Another thing is the new Metanium is 8.1 while the 16 is 8.5 & he did notice the 16 was faster. Digitika has started taking pre orders for $330 & there’s still no listing of it at Japan lure shop, those are the only 2 over the seas sites I use. Cheapest I’ve seen on eBay was $399. Doesn’t seem to be a “major” upgrade over the current model, so I guess it’s not life & death that I get one immediately, lol. I figure once the price hits $300 I’ll pull the trigger until then I’m sure I won’t miss a beat with the 16 model

I got mine a couple weeks ago: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=83496Hennessy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 3:48 pmHas anyone received this reel yet? It’s almost taking so long that I’ve actually lost interest in it , lol. I know digitika or Japan lure shop has no stock. “FISH HOOK TERRY” on YouTube has the only unboxing I’ve seen so far, can’t remember what site he said he ordered from
I had 10 of the previous generation Metaniums and the 2020's cast farther with less effort in my opinion. The new 2020's come with all 4 brakes on from the factory, I locked two of them and left two on. As has already been said, the palming size is better than the previous generation and I noticed the finish on the 2020's is better/stronger (I accidentally dropped one on the garage floor and not a scratch on it, my previous generation silver Metaniums showed scratches very easily). Also, the spool is slightly narrower than the previous generation and obviously the 2020's have the brass drive gear now. I accidentally caught three stripers in the 15lb-20lb class when I had them out for the first time and the 2020's handled them perfectly, drags are butter smooth and gears were smooth during the retrieve under a load.
Overall, after the first outing with them I'm very impressed with them and it was worth upgrading my reel arsenal to the 2020's from the previous generation.
