Oh yea sure today is the day i learn all daiwa reels are jdm design reels and daiwa is a Japanese company. What i meant is those were tweaked from JDM versions to move as high end jdm style reels for north american market.

Not sure I see your point. You seemed to say that JDM reels didnt sell well here, but you mention the Zillion Type R, PX-R and Z200. Those reels all sold well here, with the Zillion Type R being highly revered, even today. Daiwa's overpricing of the PX-R and Z200 is the only thing that hindered them from being best sellers.

Good sellers according to TT.
Not on the overall USDM
The Zillion R was a triple release ... USDM/JDM/ Aus release.

The other 2 were never on the USDM list.

PX type R which was basically identical to the PX-R except for color, was sold in the US. I think in general the US market has yet to see the benefit of going smaller and lighter. Most US anglers want to throw larger baits with heavier line than the anglers in Japan.

Both of those were USDM reels. The Z200 was the US version of the JDM Z2020 and the PX-R was the US version of the JDM PX68. The PX-R was one of the few reels released in the US that had more/better features than its JDM counterpart. The Zilllion Type R was basically the same, except for the swept handle and the Z200 was watered down.

Exactly...released different reels... doubt you will see the Steez Air in USA.

Does anyone think Daiwa will do something crazy like a TWS Alphas or Pixy?

What about a re-release of an SV103/Zillion?

I highly doubt it to be honest. Consider the new Steez Air the new Pixy. The Alphas platform will never die.. And for good reason.

For the most part, current Daiwa reels keep me satisfied. They can't all be winners I suppose. But, I'm sick of the same paint schemes and colors. We used to get carbon handles on higher end models, but now, at 600 plus, we get the same recycled crap... Again and again. These new spool sizes kinda kill the fun, and are lining Daiwas pockets, as their just aren't many alternatives out there yet. The Zaion drag star is well played out. Even limited models are getting it. Just design a new carbon handle, make a yellow reel... That's all it would take to get the enthusiastic blood flowing again. Bring back the personal order custom colors to a JDM reel. Just do something other than giving me less for more. We all know the Tdz isn't coming back, so maybe it's time to make another iconic reel. Daiwa knows it would sell. It's all getting a little stale imo. The Steez SV TW was a homerun as far as I'm concerned, but outside of that? They should have also kept the SV103 moving along. I'd still like to see an aluminum T3 without the hood. Give me a new carbon handle and some color options - I'm all in. Don't forget the 3D braking though please.
Totally agree Hogsticker.

Man, I LOVE the T3... except the line doesn't like to fall into the TWing consistently and they get geary after like 2 uses. But the spools (not counting Ballistic), the 3D braking, the size and the shape are all perfect.

Looks like the Zillion 10 and steez air will be available in Japan later this month. They’re available for preorder now.

Do the US Pros beat around the bush avoiding talking about the reel or is it random footage they just had lying around 🤷🏻‍♂️
