Daiwa Steez Air 2020
Re: Daiwa Steez Air 2020
Re: Daiwa Steez Air 2020
Watching some of the videos online, spool is little heavier than 30mm KTF spool for Steez CT which is surprising. Also, drag star does not click and there is no audiable drag like in Steez CT.

Re: Daiwa Steez Air 2020
Makes me wonder if it will cast better than a KTF Steez CT? Spool weight is important but, can be misleading sometimes. The spool shaft being made of titanium vs stainless steel can make a bigger difference on the scale than on the water.

Re: Daiwa Steez Air 2020
I'd get the Steez CT and buy a cheap chinese shallow spool. No way I'll ever pay the money Daiwa is asking for their top of the line reels.
Re: Daiwa Steez Air 2020
Weight is not only one factor of momentum of inertia. And it is factor x^1. Diameter has bigger effect because it has factor x^2.Hobie-Wan Kenobi wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 8:45 amMakes me wonder if it will cast better than a KTF Steez CT? Steez Air wil be better casting in light lures. And there will be aftermarket spools i guess.
Re: Daiwa Steez Air 2020
It looks like to me the spool might be made by KTF. I’m not positive but have seen there logo in more than one ad for this reel. JDM price isn’t too bad if it is a KTF spool and performance matches. Just my $.02 . I’m buying one anyways.
Re: Daiwa Steez Air 2020
Weren't the other air spools(ss and t3)made by ktf as well? I don't think it's anything new.
Re: Daiwa Steez Air 2020
Not sure honestly. I never bought any of the other versions of Air reels except air stream custom. I only got into bfs a few years ago and my reels were Shimanos when I started. I own a bunch of KTF spools for different reels and think they are very good quality and perform very well. If the spool is made by them then I wouldn't expect any aftermarket spools for this reel as they wouldn't be much of an upgrade. Also, I wouldn't have to spend extra money except for a carbon fiber handle and knobs which I would anyways cause the stock one is garbage.

LOL. Abominations. I don't think so. I understand they're a love hate thing, but I'll never part with my SLP T3. I've sold many FX68s. You know they were just a T3 MX painted pretty, right? Not sure why you think the 1010 spool was designed by KTF.CheezusCrust wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 8:04 amI think only the T3 air and the Megabass FX68 had their spools made by KTF.All the other T3 abominations had shitty spools made in Thailand .But not sure.

The T3 1016 spool is a classic and the FX73SV spool is pretty great as well.
Re: Daiwa Steez Air 2020
Off topic, sorry, but: What do you use the T3 1016 spool for? I have used mine in my T3 a few times but found that it needed quite heavy and aerodynamic lures to perform well. Maybe - probably - I just have not used the spool enough...IlliniDawg01 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 12:15 pmThe T3 1016 spool is a classic and the FX73SV spool is pretty great as well.

Every time I've browsed digitaka the past few weeks has had a steez air in the 'recently purchased' sidebar. Folks from overseas are on board it seems.
