500 size shimano?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

500 size shimano?

Post by BRONZEBACK32 » Wed Dec 18, 2019 12:29 am

I was curious on what was the difference between the Shimano sahara 500 FI and the Sedona 500 FI for ice fishing.

I checked the schematics and can not find the extra bearing in the Sahara.. :-k

The Drive gear is different and I assume a better material, the left side drive bearing is different because of the drive gear dimensions. I'm sure both are fine reels and I do have the Sahara and feel it was well worth the money I paid for it.

Also looks like the Sahara has a slower gear ratio but not positive on that one. Sedona 5.6:1, Sahara 4.7:1
