Antares A Casting Reel
Re: Antares A Casting Reel
Just picked up one after reading through the posts. Incredible reel to say the least. Currently running 2 brakes with braid. Effortless casting.

Congratulations
It’s a heck of a reel man. It’s one that I have with me always

Re: Antares A Casting Reel
One thing about this reel that is astonishing to me is that it has a 84mm handle but it doesn’t feel or fish short. I’ve. It had a desire to buy a longer handle like on most other reels. I’m running 20lb floro on both of mine.
Today I used a cotton Cordell trap, 3/8 and 1/2 Oz SB, and chatterbaits on the extreme mission rod and I get distance without putting my shoulder into it.
I’ve read TT.com review several times and I wish I could chance using the reel in brackish water but I don’t. I wish I had found this reel sooner. I started out with mostly shimano reels than that shifted to mostly Daiwa platforms. This reel should bring the needle back towards the middle.

Anyone with both that can do a size comparison between the new 70 size Antares and the previous model. Cheers.

I have the antares HG and the 70 is far more compact and ergonomic.Sore Thumb wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 2:02 amAnyone with both that can do a size comparison between the new 70 size Antares and the previous model. Cheers.
The 70 hugs your hand, your hand hugs the previous model.

Thanks. Any idea on weights? Japanese sites seem to list the weights as either the same or the 70 is heavier than the old DC models.goldrod wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 6:08 amI have the antares HG and the 70 is far more compact and ergonomic.Sore Thumb wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 2:02 amAnyone with both that can do a size comparison between the new 70 size Antares and the previous model. How do you like the antares 70 compared to all the others that you have?
