Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

I am looking to buy my first daiwa reel, I’ve always been a shimano guy and own most of their high end stuff minus the Antares but I want to see how daiwas high end reels compare. I’ll be using it to mostly throw senkos and other light plastics. Which reel would y’all recommend?

Steez CT SV. I used the stock 80mm handle last season but just switched all 3 that I have to 90mm handles. The reel itself is great for lighter weights but will also handle 3/8 to 3/4 as well. Daiwa hit a home run with this reel.

Steez SV TW 1012. Money reel for your applications, no mods or upgrades needed.

You're going to dig it. If you really want to enhance the lower end capabilities, look into adding a Zpi Nrc001-m spool down the road.

I have one as well. No mods needed as the handle is 90mm. You won't regret it.

I swore the svtw stock handle is 80mm and 8.1 steez A is 90mm. I can’t be positive because I threw carbon on them before using mine. Anyways it’s one of my favorite models of steez especially with the ZPI M spool like Hog mentioned. Enjoy!

Congratulations! This is great reel. I recommend looking at the extra spool for PE line if you need it:

I have both the steez A and SV and I feel like the A is more refined and smooth.

Nice I thought about the steez a but I got a bantam mgl for heavier baits and it’s awesome, smooth and solid reel.

Correct, the SV TW stock handle is 80mm and the Steez A handle is 90mm. I put a 90mm handle on one of mine and its about perfect now.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

My bad. I was thinking about the 1012 which I have which comes stock with 90mm.
