Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

I like how towards the end of the article it basically translates to "here's a lower tier reel for all you poor people"!!! So TWS is finally making it's way to the Alphas family. Does't look awful, but not super crazy about the arrowhead look. It would be interesting to see how the TWS Alphas Air compares to the most recent Alphas Air.
just hotdogin it

Yeah, I am definitely getting one. I have seen a few pics but no release date yet.

I have use many o' BFS reels and...I think I am most excited to use this one. The Steez AIR is nice but, If I can get like 95% of the performance in like a little over half the price...game changer.

This is really interesting reel!

But is it made with spacers?

Frame is a little bit bigger than Steez Air, but that is OK I think.

Is line guide further from spool in Alphas vs. Steez? Or is it just in casting position?

I bet it does have spacers. The frame does seem to be a little different than the standard Alphas frame that has been passed around to different iterations (SV, first AIR, Stream Custom...). Not the end of the world if it does have spacers.

 - I just bought an Alphas CT to go with my orange KTF spool. That's alright, since I really like its "Presso" like color scheme.

I couldn't justify spending that much money on a Steez Air and an aftermarket KTF spool. I'm up for purchasing the Alphas Air TW. Guessing KTF will offer a lighter spool, like the Steez Air.

:D I'm thinking same.
I have bought Alphas CT and K.T.F. spool (ridiculously expensive including taxes and dutys and shipment). And I love it:

But when I see Daiwa is introducing more finesse Alphas with TWS, I think I can't be purchasing this beauty.

I was waiting to how long it would take for someone to discover this. Plenty of bfs reels available. I certainly hope Daiwa releases a non bfs version of this reel.

Same here. I didn't like the look much, but, like you, the specs have me interested in a non-bfs version.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I don't know Tim. Are you sure your Alphas purist soul can handle this?

I do love my old-school Alphas variations, but I have no problem with the t-wing. It will be interesting to contrast the castability between the old and new versions, assuming they actually produce a non-finesse version.

I hope they do, but it may be considered redundant. It would essentially be a CT SV70 TW? They should have just released that particular reel with the T Wing to start with.
