PM me some dimensions and I'll take a whirl at it. I've been looking for a new machining project anyways...cjbaguio wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 10:31 pmHey guys,
would like to know if anyone here had attempted or at least looked into adding a drag clicker on the 20 Alphas Air TW? I've seen a couple of articles and YouTube vids of folks doing it.
Heres a vid[youtube]https://youtu.be/W7fubaPv8zA/youtube]
It looks like most parts can be brought over from the Steez CT SV TW (part # 92 ~ # 96) - except for what appears to be a custom plastic/metal piece machined or 3D printed that looks like attached pic.
If anyone knows any info of anyone that has made or can make that custom piece, please do share!
Cheers

I'm interested in clicking drag too, only thing missing for this excellent bfs reel
Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020
It seems the pioneers of this add-on project in Japan don't leave a whole lot of information for others to catch on. Don't want to complicate this endeavor any further but it would probably be best if one of us that own both the Alphas Air TW and a Steez CT SV could help with confirming some dimensions.
The custom plastic/metal piece to be made for the Alphas main gear (pictured - the black one) has to mate with the circular plate that fits within the Steez main gear - which also contains the spring loaded clicker bit that will make contact with custom piece.
If anyone can chime in to help better explain what I am try to say Err, I hope you understand what I am tryin to say.

Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020
And I appears we can't just use the "plastic piece" from the Steez CT SV because in the schematics, it doesn't have one. Perhaps, the Steez's main gear is already machined to have those drag click grooves? I don't want to take the risk in buying the Steez main gear and then later finding out it doesn't work in the Alphas. Owners of a Steez CT SV can help confirm what that main gear looks like (btw, schematic screenshots shown are for Right hand models)

Yep...the Steez's main gear is machined for drag. No plastic pieces.

I don’t think that picture is of a Steez. Most probably is from a Z2020.
The latest iterations of the clicking drags have plastic races.

Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020
Thanks for sharing that. Yeah I just found out the Steez CT uses a plastic race like you shared. I just wonder if its removable to use in an Alphas.

Bro, you are awesome. You'd do all of us a service. Thank you!
Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020
No headway on the quest to add a clicky drag, but my SLP parts came in will be adding Hedgehog BFS Air micro-bearings as well. Also, may want to add in the engine plate from a Steez CT SV.
