Crankbait Reel

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Looking for a reel to replace my shimano chronarch mgl for shallow to mid depth crankbaits, old reels or new reels, any price just looking for ideas.

The Steez A TW has a CC version for cranking. The regular 6 ratio is a monster anyway. Either would be great. Bantam MGL would be a great option as well.

That steez a does look nice I might have to go with that one. I’ve had the Bantam it was pretty sweet but I sold it and got the new metanium.

What are the weight ranges of the baits? What's your ideal IPT?

1/4 would be the smallest crank I would throw. I like something in the 6ish ratio.

Nothing bigger than 3/4 as well.

I think the Steez A fits the bill really well. The stock spool will handle 1/4 to 3/4 well and there's compatible SV spools if you need to throw lighter weights.

An OG Conquest 50/1 would be a super fun reel. The DC equivalent is definitely worth a look as well. 8-)

I’ve never had a round reel, might have to give one a try. The conquest are awesome looking reels.

Both are super smooth.

I have an opportunity to buy a steez a for 300 right now in the 6 ratio, thinking about going for it.

Why not the metanium? Should be fine for cranking with the brass gears. I have one on order that I plan to use on a javelin for cranking.
