Has there ever been a valid reason for Daiwa going away from this system? People were literally begging for a Z1016 and the new Tatula platform would be perfect as it has been well received by pretty much everyone. I think a Tatula Elite 3D would be a game changer.

Not a clue, but I've often wondered. Best braking system imo.

Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
Re: Mag3D
Does seem like they're catering more to beginners and finesse anymore, unless you buy an aftermarket spool. Even the Steez A was pretty tame with the stock spool.
Re: Mag3D
Average Joe 3D Is complicated braking system. I shortly tried it with T3 Air. I couldn't find much difference there between Max Control vs. Max Distance - But Max Distance needed more Magforce basic setting. Maybe that 3D with sv / air spool was silly. Now I have 3D in Z2020 / Mag-Z. In that reel it belongs to. It needs all gizmos. But still actually need of it in my fishing is slim. So far it always has been in Max Distance. Personally I see much more change in changing different springs to spools than adjusting 3D.
Re: Mag3D
Average Joe isn't likely going to buy a $300 reel anyway. I certainly don't see any Z2020 when I'm pond hopping around town.
Re: Mag3D
Magforce 3D is just bits of plastic in the plaming plate. They can easily make it standard on any of their Magforce Z reels.tywithay wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 12:19 amAverage Joe isn't likely going to buy a $300 reel anyway. I certainly don't see any Z2020 when I'm pond hopping around town.
Re: Mag3D
I wouldn't be surprised if Daiwa would introduce 3D in Tatula Top models to boost sale of it but not to more expensive reels
Re: Mag3D
It would require new tooling, unless they're going to hand cut a slot into every reel for the switch to be added.LowRange wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 4:54 amMagforce 3D is just bits of plastic in the plaming plate. Re: Mag3D
True but it is just injection molded plastic bits. They already went through all the trouble to make T3/Magforce 3D looking side plates for the Steez TW and didn't even include Magforce 3D! Trust me it is not cost that is keeping MAgforce 3D away. They just don't think it will sell so they abandoned it.tywithay wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 6:00 amIt would require new tooling, unless they're going to hand cut a slot into every reel for the switch to be added.LowRange wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 4:54 amMagforce 3D is just bits of plastic in the plaming plate. Re: Mag3D
I don't have checked reels that much, but 3D might need slightly more space than without 3D. Assuming that in standard reel without 3D magnets are not that away from spool than those are ín 3D in Max Distance Position, and assuming that clearance from magnets to palming plate is minimized. Yes, I am just guessing right now, because I haven't taken those apart. But still I don't think this is issue for there isn't currently 3D brakes.
Re: Mag3D
How often do you see bassresource users confused by the SV and regular Tatulas? There are posts about it all the time. They just can't wrap their heads around the idea of different braking profiles for different applications. "well which one is better" is all they want to know as if one replaces the other or something. No imagine this being representative of the general bass fishing public and then trying to explain Magforce 3D to them.
