New reels need for 893 and 894 nrx

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

New reels need for 893 and 894 nrx

Post by falcon » Sat May 30, 2020 6:39 am

I need to purchase 4 new reels for these rods (2 893 and 2 894 nrx)this weekend. Price range under 300 For each. Looking for the best in this price category. Neither rod will be used for moving baits pretty much strictly bottom contact use weightless senkos to 3/4oz.

Need some beefiness
I’d go with a SV103xs

Beef I would figure the elite is superior for its aluminum build over the sv

I say “beef” because in my experience
The 894 is til heavy
The tip of the 893 NRX is heavy
I went through a slough of reels and I still put a butt cap on mine.
Now with the antares hg it’s a pleasure to fish. So I need some beef but not a slab. I’ve used D7 and zillions. I would opt for the SV103xs because of the blend between using Steez spools and the robustness of the zillion platform
But it’s really smaller I think than the OG zillion. It seems that way to me anyways

The SV103 has an aluminimum frame and aluminum sideplate.

@goldrod they're both the same size.

The sv does not have aluminum side plates that’s only on the elite

They are referring to the OOP SV103 built on the Zillion frame.
