Is Daiwa becoming : The Off Topic Turn...

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

''OMG Daiwa is lacking so much pink in their reeels''. ''OMG Daiwa pleaaase make a soft masculinity reeeel''.

Come on...
The 4.9 ratio Daiwa Catalina TWS has some tasteful pink accents...and that reel is meant for buisness with the 4.9 gears and 100mm handle plus power grips... :-k ...maybe the low gear ratio and long handle are to help sissies who cant winch in deep cranks with an 8.5 ratio 80mm handle reel.

Or do you guys not smile when taking fish photos too? ... THAT is one of my pet peeves 😉
So that's not just an Aussie fishing thing... Phew thought we owned that outright...
Nope, it's important to have a stubble beard and stare at the camera with a stink eye that says, in no uncertain terms that the they, can and just might, kick your butt as soon as they put down that fish. You see that guy in all the new fishing ads. The fisherman as the badazz.
🤣 just brutal. They must be pandering to the, ahem, “woke” fisherman? I’m pretty happy about catching fish, but what do I know?

I'm in the boring minority too. If I could just have everything flat black, I'd be cool with that.

I agree that black is fine, and I would be happy if that were all we had, but I do like how a different color on a certain setup makes it easier to pick out when I'm fishing.

This was split off from another topic that asked "Is Daiwa becoming a Tatula?"
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I prefer the subtle looking stuff too. Not a huge fan of Daiwas flashier offerings nor the Steez or Tatula logo. I do love Daiwa reels though, and would also love if more 34mm reels were coming out.
I could live with all black/dark rods (with cork handles) and love traditional St Croix and Loomis stuff.
While I like subtle, I also like color and brand name to match.
I purchased a turquoise 34mm KTF finesse spool, which has been a poor color choice for most of my reels. Yesterday I put it in my Megabass Monoblock Grigio Stone and it was a perfect match with the Megabass Triza rod (which has the same colors including turquoise thread). Moreover, the spool performed great in the reel! 😃 , happy...

I will add to the above post that I caught two searun trout of about 45 cm, and the rod did great (despite lowest power Triza rod).

Also, I am 1.95 meter tall (approx. 6’5”?) and the grass is almost my height.
Making precise and long casts with small lures along a stream with that type of vegetation (in a windy country) is an all together different exercise than when casting heavier lures from a bass boat...hence my opinion on reels may differ from yours.

Finally, it sucks being allergic to grass 😂

There is nothing subtle or dated in the appearance of a Monoblock on a Megabass stick.

I agree 🤭 I only have that one MB setup - in general Megabass is too much for me. 😅
