I use spinning gear for bush fishing. Been doing more and more of it. There are some nice hidden spots if you are willing to machete your way to them.
I prefer short BFS gear for bush fishing. The one handed casting is really nice in that thick brush.
I agree! In my opinion short rod with light baitcasting reel and with relatively thick braid is much nicer in bush fishing than spinning gear.

Edit tried to post image and link it as avatar. Didn't work.

I have tons of bass spinning gear because I have kids, and my wife doesn't fish regularly. Anybody who has kids might be in the same boat (learning a baitcaster takes a while!)

I just got my first ML finesse casting combo and added a BFS reel to it and definitely love it. Been dropshotting on it and throwing shaky heads. Not sure if that'll make me get rid of all spinning combos, though. I feel that just like there are techniques that call for a baitcaster (jerkbaits and frogging, for example), throwing setups like a 3/32oz dropshot should be done with a spinning combo.

Havent used one since I was about 10 and bought my first baitcaster, a Curado200B

I will add that dropshotting does feel better with a spinning reel to me.

Have several really nice spinning setups. Rarely ever use them. I've been trying to make a point to use my Certate LT more often, just because it's such a good reel.

Stella B and my NRX 804 XMR is my favourite outfit....and at last count I own over 50 rod and reel combos.

Spinning rods are for fisherman who use their tackle as a tool.

You'll find those who customize their reels, or purchase based on reels "colours" and how they match their rod, aren't terribly interested in fishing spinning reels.

I often fish big river walleyes and smallmouth with light hair jigs in deep and heavy current. Casting gear just doesn't cut it for these situations. I could never limit myself to such a one-dimensional fishing world of only using casting gear. Only at this place do I read such nonsense.

I cast spinning gear with one hand. Is that not a normal thing?

I own a good mix of spinning and casting rod and reels. I typically take both types on a majority of outings. I really enjoy fishing with quality spinning gear.

I do the exact same thing, lots of walleye, in the current and mostly rivers. All done with baitcasters with no issues.

I use spinning gear for panfish and trout. I also use it for versatility when wading and carrying only one rod.

I love spinning tackle and have a bunch of combos. My two favorites for bass are both Exist LT 3000CXH, one paired with Steez AGS 76MML, the other a Steez Racing Design 67ML+. When fishing a lighter shakey head or drop shot, spinning tackle just feels better to me than even perfectly capable casting alternatives are available.

I also love catching big bluegill, crappie, and other various panfish. I have a few favorite L/UL combos too that get used almost daily in the ponds :D

You have to use your other hand to open the bail

I’m 60/40 spinning to casting at the moment. Casting reels are sneaking in quite a bit lately. To me it’s all about the right tool for the presentation. I’m also very multispecies and fish for bass the least of the major game fish in the GL region.
