Shimano DC white dot

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Shimano DC white dot

Post by jrk » Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:12 am

I posted this question in the manufactures forums, but thought I'd put this out here as well. Does anyone know what the little white dot might be at the top of the DC unit might be and how important it might be? It seems this little white dot might be on all the DC units I've seen.

Appreciate any input from those int he know.

Probably for alignment when you assemble/disassemble

Thanks. I don't think so, as it's on the top of the DC "tube" that inserts into the reel towards the spool. I've become more curious now.
I've attached a pic in hopes for clarification.

Since it is an electromagnetic assembly, could it possibly be an indicator of polarity of the magnet?
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

It could very well be for assembly. I hope it doesn’t have an electronic purpose, etc. Seems rather easy to accidentally rub off.
