Shallow Spool For Daiwa SOL - Left Hand?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Shallow Spool For Daiwa SOL - Left Hand?

Post by Ghost » Sat Jul 04, 2020 9:35 pm

I've had my left hand SOL for years and now wond if I can use it as a BFS reel.

Is there a shallow spool that will fit and work with my Left hand SOL?

That would be your best bet. MOMO and AMO make lighter spools, but as far as i'm aware they don't make them in 33mm for the Alphas platform, which is your SOL.

I have an Alphas Finesse Custom spool listed in the Classifieds. It's a solid improvement over the stock spool for light weights.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

The Tackle Trap might have some straight ZPI carbon handles left.

Aliexpress if you want something cheap. Search Gomexus. There are also Ray's Studio carbon handles which I have a number of but the Gomexus handles look better and come with nice knobs for a similar price. Both Gomexus and Rays' Studio have handles in both straight and curved carbon fiber as well as highly milled aluminum handles too. Ray's studio offers orange color parts which match the Sol. Gomexus does not. Not sure if Daiwa knobs fit the Gomexus knob shafts. They do fit the Ray's studio carbon handles. I have Daiwa knobs on my Ray's handles.
