Vanford F Ci4+
First impressions of the reel had me impressed, the subtle satin black paint and overall aesthetics is pleasingly there.
Noticed that the bail wire is the same material as the Stradic FB Ci4+, which was titanium (of whatever alloy). Was this omitted for a reason n the product write-up? Its definitely not the same chrome stainless look as the Stradic FL, and it doesn't seem to be unnaturally tinted either by a surface coating.
Nice and light and pleasingly tight and smooth to the wind. That's all I got in store with the boy in my arms naturally wanting to take it out of my hands and man handle it himself...
Overall will be getting one myself in due time. This reel deserves a better name though... Much much better to suit it...

Keeping my eye on these. If I end up with some, I’ll be a late adopter to see how durability shakes out.

I might pick up a 1000 size for ice fishing.

It's cool to see both a 2000 and 2500 size offered.

AUDM and theyre 2500 and 3000, forgot to mention that. The 3000 is in the foreground and 2500 behind it in the top picture (bottom is just from the other side).
We don't get JDM sizings here in Australia... Nor do we get to see the 500 size the USDM market sees, I'm pretty keen for that one myself.

What would you utilize the 500 for in your neck of the woods?Slazmo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 5:23 pmAUDM and theyre 2500 and 3000, forgot to mention that. The 3000 is in the foreground and 2500 behind it in the top picture (bottom is just from the other side).

Where I am - South East Queensland. You could really do some proper BFS fishing for small freshwater Bass, and in the saltwater for whiting, flathead and the rest.
Theres something alluring about a reel half the size of a 1000 reel and using it properly in a BFS setting and micro lures.

Re: Vanford F Ci4+
I’ve been in need of a new spinning reel for a few months now but making do with an old beater I have. Wanting to wait for this one because it seems perfect for what I want. Some online dealers said it would be available mid Aug; that came and went. Then I saw the 28th. Not so much.
I almost bought something else including the last iteration a few times but knew I would regret it. Patience isn’t my strong suit, but I am nevertheless very excited to finally get here. Maybe I’ll get that call from the local dealer tomorrow. Who knows.

I really want to see a 500 in person.
But with 1 less bearing, less drag and not much weight savings the 1000 is better on paper.

It could be that the body for the 1000 and 500 are the same size. If only the spool is smaller, the bearing under the spool could be the minus one".
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

You could be right, but every 500 size Shimano that I have seen has a smaller body compared to the 1000 size.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 6:14 pmIt could be that the body for the 1000 and 500 are the same size. Re: Vanford F Ci4+
True, Daiwa is more prone to that than Shimano......but Daiwa did go back to a lot of solid-shaft spools like Shimano, and Shimano copied Daiwa by adding the lower pinion bearing.BRONZEBACK32 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 10:35 amYou could be right, but every 500 size Shimano that I have seen has a smaller body compared to the 1000 size.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 6:14 pmIt could be that the body for the 1000 and 500 are the same size. Its not likely, so this is purely conjecture on my part.
