Need a brass gear set for the Met DC

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Need a brass gear set for the Met DC

Post by SSS » Sun Oct 04, 2020 7:38 am

Looking to fit in a brass gear set on my 2015 Metanium DC. What are the options? I know the new 2020 Met MGL has a brass set, but not sure if compatible ](*,)

I think the 2015 Met DC and Curado 200k have interchangeable drive gears, and then you need to use the pinion gear from the Met. Tackle trap has the sets ready to go here: https://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_p ... 98_792_793

Just pick your handedness and speed

Yea i've read this on the older forum threads, but i am looking at higher end gears, if there's any that are compatible with the Met DC. Also gonna be ordering from PLAT since i need some other things they have, and curado k parts is not something they carry.

Has anyone tried the Chronarch ci4 or chronarch mgl gears inside the Metanium DC? I really don't want to order these buzzing aluminium gears from the met dc again. They wear out so quickly.

Dont forget that the CU K doesn't have true "micromodule" gears alike the Antares or the Conquest et al

And I'm doubtfully certain that you'll find a gearset - like I can't find a brass gearset for the Calais DC...

For the pessimist I'm quiet the optimist.

But the CU K gearset is quite good for as long as you can maintain it.

Yea, that's the reason why i'd prefer another brass gear set if there's anything else that is compatible. Its too bad nobody tried the brass set inside the Met 2020 in the Met DC.

Just need people to measure their gear sets and post overall dimensions.

He doesn't want the K gear set. He wants the true MM gears.

Its not that i don't want it. I am sure the the inferior gears in brass are still smoother under load. But i'll be ordering from PLAT, and they don't have curado k parts since its a usdm reel.

May want to check that... You'll probably find they share commonality...

I don't get where the curado k isnt true MM. Its main gear works with the met mgl pinion. So the met isnt true MM anyway?

I thought of that as well, but always hear the "antares/conquest has the tier 3 micro gears. aldebaran/metanium tier 2 and the rest is tier 1, the worse of the bunch". I wish we had confirmation from bantam or someone else that works for shimano.

Good idea. Is scorpion mgl gear brass, tho? Has anyone used these gears in their metanium dc? Don't want to order something that isn't compatible :crying:

edit: saw some videos about the reel. the gear is indeed brass.
