Daiwa steez 2020

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

I don’t want to but I think I prefer the Steez A over my many OG Steez 100/103/105ltd/103TN ltd. The Morethan PE is amazing too
It's ok to think that, newer actually is sometimes better

Agreed on the Morethan PE... I don't have a lot of time in with it yet, but it's a solid reel.

Yes, but that Mag-Z PE spool is very, very different than the Steez A stock or with a ZPI PG spool...

I am curious about your comment about the Morethan PE being so much different than the Steez A. I have a Morethan PE, but don't have the Steez A. I am thinking of getting one.

Can you please explain in what ways the spools are different and in what way is the performance "way" different? So far, I am impressed how far the Morethan casts a lipless.

Dave Sir,

What’s your lipless setup and what size lipless are you casting?

The stock spool in the Morethan PE is more limited in line capacity than the stock Steez A or the ZPI PG spool. I found out casting a big frog with 55# Daiwa Samurai Braid

In my limited experience with it, I am impressed with the performance of the Morethan as well, but the Steez A with ZPI PG spool is my go to lipless reel presently. I have plenty of line capacity for 14# Daiwa J-Fluoro Samurai and get some crazy good distances paired with the Steez AGS 8'MHRB.

19 Morethan PE1000 TW: Brake is Magforce Z PE long distance tuned system to cast rigs the longest.

Obviously stiffer spring and/or different inductor cup.

They are selling for well above retail pricing too and seem to keep going up in price because people realize how incredible they are and that ZPI isn't making them anymore.

Keep in mind though that the stock Steez A can achieve some really nice casting distances right out of the box. I fished my first one stock for quite a while before going to the ZPI spool. I threw lipless, foot ball jigs, swim baits, etc. and distance certainly wasn't a problem.
