Re: Which Steez?
So there are custom spools for the A? Are they shallow for BFS, or more for looks?
Re: Which Steez?
Yes, any 34mm spool will fit. From BFS up to whatever you choose. If you can find a ZPI NRC-001, they are money in a Steez A.filthyPhil wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 11:11 amSo there are custom spools for the A? Are they shallow for BFS, or more for looks?

Re: Which Steez?
The price between the two isn't huge. I prefer a full magnesium reel. Out of the box, the SV TW is a more versatile reel than the A. The stock spool is great, but the Zpi performs a little better. I also prefer the SV technology that the A doesn't have in stock form. Sure, you can drop the spool from the SV TW into the A, but then you're paying as much for it as you would of had you just bought the SV TW. The Steez A uses magforce Z braking, which is great for baits from 3/8 oz and upward. I use a lot of baits weighing between 1/8 oz and a quarter ounce, therefore it was the better option for me. So my advice is to think about what you expect from the reel, and the baits you will primarily be using before making a decision.Jnkoepp wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 3:53 amI’m probably missing something but why would you pay so much more for an SV when you throw a different spool in it? Wouldn’t the A with the ZPI be practically the same for a lot less $$$?Hogsticker2 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 4:19 pmJust grab a Steez SV TW. There isn't much it can't do. Still my favorite reel, especially with the Zpi Nrc001-m spool.

Re: Which Steez?
Thanks for all the input. I have decided on the A.
Re: Which Steez?
A 6:3 is pretty slow for t-rigs but ok for chatterbaits. You can save about $120 if you get it jdm , digitaka has it for $380 free shipping.

Re: Which Steez?
The wife snagged one on amazon for $389 today. Just have to sweet talk her to see if I can test it out before Christmas. I fish out of a kayak so my t rigs rarely go twenty feet if that so the 6.3 should horse them out just fine.

Got my Steez today. Wow this thing is small, loaded it with 12lb yo zuri hybrid. went out back for some grass bassin and was pretty impressed. I had to mess with the zero adjuster but after a few casts was dialed in. Hopefully get out on the water with it tomorrow.

Re: Which Steez?
Got out on the yak with it today. Seems way over braked to me, have the mag dial on 2 throwing a 1/2 oz rocket shad maybe 60 feet.
Re: Which Steez?
Loosen the spool tenson. There should be a tiny bit of side to side play on the spool.
Re: Which Steez?
Also flush the bearings. I hear the A being a salt reelhas a very high viscosity lube on the spool bearings.

Re: Which Steez?
Will do, had the tension pretty loose. Any recommendation for the pliers to get the shaft pin out?

Re: Which Steez?
Swapped the bearing in the cover for one that I know works well with no improvement. I have to wait on the tool to get the spool bearing off. It seems way over braked to me. I have a tatula ct type r that can cast farther with less weight on the 5 setting.

Re: Which Steez?
I swapped the side plate bearing with an abec 7 bearing from another reel and respooled with stren fluorcast and blew the spool up on the first cast . I don't know if it was the bearing or the new line but it seems to not be over braked anymore. If it is the bearings that's ridiculous for a reel at it's price point but could very well have been the line I had on it previously. I plan on swapping the original bearing back in tomorrow to see for sure. Aside from the braking problems I love the reel so far, any suggestions for handles or can you add bearings to the knobs?
Re: Which Steez?
Yes, you can add bearings to the knobs. The Steez A comes /w 2 bushings per knob so you'll need 4x 4x7x2.5 bearings.
Stren flurocast is some of the worst line on the market. That's probably part of your problem. I have a few steez A's. one of my favorite reels.

Thanks for the bearing sizes. Line is scarce around here, it was either the stren, or spiderwire, or wait a week for amazon.
