Kistler Reels

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

The Kistler reels are not identical to the Bionic Plus. Look closely at the two reels and you will see the differences.

It's definitely the same platform though. Brakes are identical

They may be good, they may not be. More than likely a Banax design. But I wanted to chime in with a  , for all the Daiwa/Shimano superior guys. Doyo makes a fine product, and they also make some not so. But hey, so does Daiwa and Shimano. Ill take my BPS JM Platinum Signature reel over a Curado K any day.
Who makes the current reels for Quantum?
Thank you.

Banax.

I hear this frame is from the C1311 tooling and that it is related to the BPS Bionic Plus. Frame looks like the one used in the Kistler reels. No idea what C1311 means.

I doubt it is chineasium. We wouldn't get leaks like this I don't think. I don't think is Banx or Doyo because I don't recognize that brake on any of their products. Dawon? Poco? Some OEM we have never heard of? Who knows.

Went to my local BPS to grab a pic of the Bionic Plus brakes from a display model but they didn't have a display Bionic Plus. I did see the updated Tatula CT. It's a sharp looking reel in person. The thin knobs are weird though.

Those knobs have trickled down their reels for the past 4 years. I'm not a fan of them either. Just a hair too thin.

Your reel sleuthery is epic. Hopefully you don't end up in witness protection. I hear some of these reel re-labellers are connected.

Gunki is from Holland (which is a very popular fishing destination - tons of water, easily obtained fishing license). But I doubt they make their own reels, either. Not sure which factory they use.

Actually I stand corrected, they are French. Weird, all this time I thought it was Netherlands, because that's the first shop page that I always get.

Mitchell was a French brand. The Mitchell 300s and 308s were classics
