Zillion sv TW 1000

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Don't think i ever got any confirmations on this. Has anyone tried to use the Zillion1000 gear set inside their steez tw? I really want to try these gears in a steez this coming season.

The Alphas SV TW, newest Zillion and Steez CT all share the same gear set size. Not sure on the Steez SV TW.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Is the new Zillion smoother than the Steez SV TW?

That would be a tall order. The Steez SV TW is probably among top 3 smoothest reels I've ever used.

The JDM zillion is the smoothest reel I’ve ever felt by far. The only Steez I have ever owned though is the CT. To me, the zillion is smoother than the CT.

To me it’s probably near same, but the new zillion 1000 seems to give a more buttery lack of reverb because it’s aluminium. When I have them both out fishing at the same time, I’ve never caught myself noticing a difference when my mind is on the fish.

The Zillion is great, ut not quite as smooth as the Steez Sv TWS in my hands.

My current order of reels regarding smoothness:

1. 2019 Antares 70

2. STEEZ sV Tw
3. Steez ct sv
4. 2021 zillion

I own three Steez SV TW reels (all three ratios) and the new Zillion is smoother. My recollection is that the Zillion was smoother "out of the box" by a tad.

But all of my reels (purchased new or used) are disassembled, parts cleaned appropriately, appropriate parts polished, tuned, and re-greased/oiled with better lubricants than stock. After that, all the reels are smoother than "stock", cast easier with less effort, etc. At that point, the new Zillion is still slightly more smooth than the Steez SV TW.

Both are in my top three favorites (with the new Alphas SV TW 800) of the 'new' generation. Cannot go wrong with either the new Zillion or Steez SV TW. Both are on every fishing trip with me.

Regards,
Doc

Ah that sucks :? Really wanted them for the steez tw.

On a side note, does anyone knows if the new zillion is able to support 2 bearings on the worm gear? When fully upgraded with BB, can it get to 12 like the steez tw or does it max out at 11 like most daiwa reels?

Yes, it does support two bearings on the worm gear. I have made that upgrade on both of mine.
OBW, the new Alphas SV TW 800 also supports two worm gear bearings.

Hello, Friend!
No, but near. I think if install 2 ball bearing on worm shaft and 2 ball bearing to handle knobs, will be the same.

Do you recall the size of those worm gear bearings?
