Nice BC reel for Casting 1/4-1/2oz baits LONG DISTANCE

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

I've been sitting here wonder virtually the exact same thing in regards to the Tatula Elite. Guess it's time to pull the ol'boot straps up and give it a try. I have an Elite sitting 10ft away from me. I'll strip the 17lb mono off and load it with some 10lb FC and find out for the OP as well as my own curiosity. Rod I'll be using is a the Croix LTB M/F jerkbait special. Give me a day or two.

Go do it DustyBill. What are you comparing the Tat Elite to, a Steez or the new Zillion? or both?

I guess I'll just call it a base line. I have a new Zillion on the way but I want to know if there's a point where a long cast reel like the Elite, Curado K/DC, or BB1 Pro becomes more advantageous to use. Especially in long casting techniques like jerkbaiting. (I know reel weight's going to be an issue.) I know what my 7'6" ML/F and 6'8" M/F spinning rigs can do with a wacky rig Senko, so I can judge against that for now. But if I can find secondary uses for rig while saving same $$$, I think it's worth a look-see.

Okay, I don't have the line to spool up the reel, but I did order a spool of 12lb Tatsu for it. So this make take some extra time. I did spool off the 17lb mono onto a Curado that was getting a line change anyhow.

If you're looking for the best long distance baitcast reel, you have to give the 13 Z Slide reel an honest try. I got bored and unexcited with alot of Shimano and Daiwa casting reels so I tried a bunch of 13 reels. I fell in love with the Z slide and tested all my top level Shimano and Daiwas and this 13 z slide could not be out-casted by the finest new and old reels made.
