New SLX BFS is coming

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Well, this is the first Shimano in a long time that has my attention. =D>

Doesn't the Scorpion BFS have a magnetic brake system.

Yes, and as a friend pointed out to me, this appears to be the Scorpion BFS with different cosmetics.

I wonder how long it’s been in the works for? The Aliexpress BFS rules are getting more and more popular, if they can keep the price down it could be a great entry level option.

All the Shimano BFS reels have the magnetic brake system (and the clicking drag), it was Shimano's way of reducing spool weight to get the spool light enough to cast light baits a long ways

Probably some other downgrades as well... whatever the difference is between SLX and Curado would be the same between SLX and Scorpion.

I thought the magnetic braking BFS spool sounded familiar, but it's been a while since I've played with my Scorpion and Conquest BFS reels. ;)

I agree. I think the main diff will be reduced bearing count, like the SLX to Curado differences; specifically, the main shaft bearing is a bushing on the SLX, along with bushings under the knobs.

Wondering if they changed much from the regular slx as far as body and internals

Not hard to see the chassis isn't a run of the mill SLX...

Looks like a Curado i70 repurposed with SLX slapped on the side?

Europe has the Curado BFS coming out. Basically the same reel but different color.

Definitely a curado 70. Stripped down Scorpion BFS I guess?
