which spinning reel if someone else paid for it?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

which spinning reel if someone else paid for it?

If your wealthy relative (uncle, aunt, grandmother) offered to buy you any spinning reel what would you buy? You could not sell it or trade it but you had to keep it and fish it.

Either Daiwa Exist or Shimano Stella.
Take your pick. Both are excellent reels.

I like the Certate line as well. Probably the Shimano equivalent or the Evergreen Opus, either version.

Certate +1.

I would rather get 2 Certates with a bit extra money than 1 Exist :laugh1: I am sure Exist is a better reel but don't think it is worth that much more.

on the shimano side Exsence is the one that I am most interested in, and it has new models coming out this year...personally I like the looks of Daiwa spinning reels 10 times than Shimano's  but unfortunately Daiwa is losing some of the nice tough and details seen on older models :crying:

Agreed. I have five Stella FJ’s that are going no where. I had 3 Exists. I like the Exsence for my lighter treble hooked baits/Stellas for finesse which I do a ton of. Typing as a smallmouth guy here.

All mentioned are fine reels.

I would take either an Exist or a Stella....then sell it and buy a casting reel, even if they didnt want me to.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Can you give your wealthy relative my email address?

Same here! Stella is a fantastic reel, but I sold all mine when I got my first Exist LT.

Unfortunately, a lot of people still don't know how extensive and how good the warranty and service plan is on the US version of the Exist LT. That is a HUGE value proposition to consider and worth understanding.

Exist for me! Daiwa gets the nod for spinning reels for me.

Exist LT for sure.

Close second would be a Certate LT, at a much lower cost.

Both are incredible reels.

Stella>Exist

I can open my Stella's in 5 minutes, clean, grease and have it back on the water in 20 mins.
Exist, not so much.

I do love Daiwa also but I'm a Shimano fan for the ease of maintenance and over all quality control.

For me the tech and body of the exist makes it the winner. honestly though any reel at that price point is going to be very good. There's definitely a diminishing return when you start getting into that ultra high price. The refinement of all those reels are going to be excellent and it just comes down to warranty, the feel you like more, and looks.
