Rapala buys Zebco

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

The Rapala reels will be Banax instead of Haibo.

Are you sure you weren’t reading Rather Outdoors? ... owners of Lew’s and Strike King?

So, Rather Outdoors, not Rapala?? Rather Outdoors is showing Zebco and Quantum as their brands on the website.

Goodbye, old friend.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Do you think they will phase Quantum/Zebco out?

I just mean its pretty light in details, I can't see a reason to keep it and compete with yourself but they seem to be highlighting it for Europe, I wonder what it means for Van Staal and Fin Nor.

Yup... who knows about Van Staal and Fin Nor, but with regards to competing against yourself, Pure Fishing does it with Abu, Pfleuger, and Penn (now with a low profile line), so it's just normal. Not everyone knows or understands the parent company deal and are just keyed in on their favorite brands.

Wow....I didn't realize that penn had a low profile

I dont think so, but they will all look just like the Lews/Pflueger/Abu reels before long. I wasn't a huge fan of Quantum reels but they were at least a unique option in the fishing world. I dont think that will be the case now.

It appears that Pure Fishing is retaining Van Staal and Fin Nor. No changes to any of the info on their websites regarding these two brands.

I would think it is awkward now that Lew’s and Quantum are under the same umbrella. Wonder what Kevin VanDam thinks now that his old signature series reel manufacturer and his new one are together? He was with Quantum for a very long time before coming over to Lew’s... KVD Quanlews...Lewstum???

There was a time when Quantum was putting out some very good tackle, rods and reels. I used the Quantum Tour Edition rods for quite a few years. They also a good Pitchin’ reel.

I would imagine KVD is a bit bothered for all the aggravation he may have endured.
