Rapala buys Zebco
How will this affect Quantum reels?
Re: Rapala buys Zebco
The Rapala reels will be Banax instead of Haibo.
Re: Rapala buys Zebco
Are you sure you weren’t reading Rather Outdoors? ... owners of Lew’s and Strike King?

The press release is very light in reference to quantum
Re: Rapala buys Zebco
One release I read said the acquisition includes Quantum.doomtrprz71 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:07 pmThe press release is very light in reference to quantum

So, Rather Outdoors, not Rapala?? Rather Outdoors is showing Zebco and Quantum as their brands on the website.Cal wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:56 pmOne release I read said the acquisition includes Quantum.doomtrprz71 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:07 pmThe press release is very light in reference to quantum

Goodbye, old friend.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Do you think they will phase Quantum/Zebco out?

I just mean its pretty light in details, I can't see a reason to keep it and compete with yourself but they seem to be highlighting it for Europe, I wonder what it means for Van Staal and Fin Nor.Cal wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:56 pmOne release I read said the acquisition includes Quantum.doomtrprz71 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:07 pmThe press release is very light in reference to quantum

Yup... who knows about Van Staal and Fin Nor, but with regards to competing against yourself, Pure Fishing does it with Abu, Pfleuger, and Penn (now with a low profile line), so it's just normal. Not everyone knows or understands the parent company deal and are just keyed in on their favorite brands.doomtrprz71 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 12:08 pmI just mean its pretty light in details, I can't see a reason to keep it and compete with yourself but they seem to be highlighting it for Europe, I wonder what it means for Van Staal and Fin Nor.Cal wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:56 pmOne release I read said the acquisition includes Quantum.doomtrprz71 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:07 pmThe press release is very light in reference to quantum

Re: Rapala buys Zebco
I dont think so, but they will all look just like the Lews/Pflueger/Abu reels before long. I wasn't a huge fan of Quantum reels but they were at least a unique option in the fishing world. I dont think that will be the case now.

It appears that Pure Fishing is retaining Van Staal and Fin Nor. No changes to any of the info on their websites regarding these two brands.doomtrprz71 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 12:08 pmI just mean its pretty light in details, I can't see a reason to keep it and compete with yourself but they seem to be highlighting it for Europe, I wonder what it means for Van Staal and Fin Nor.Cal wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:56 pmOne release I read said the acquisition includes Quantum.doomtrprz71 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:07 pmThe press release is very light in reference to quantum
I would think it is awkward now that Lew’s and Quantum are under the same umbrella. Wonder what Kevin VanDam thinks now that his old signature series reel manufacturer and his new one are together? He was with Quantum for a very long time before coming over to Lew’s... KVD Quanlews...Lewstum???
Re: Rapala buys Zebco
There was a time when Quantum was putting out some very good tackle, rods and reels. I used the Quantum Tour Edition rods for quite a few years. They also a good Pitchin’ reel.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 2:24 pmI dont think so, but they will all look just like the Lews/Pflueger/Abu reels before long. I would imagine KVD is a bit bothered for all the aggravation he may have endured.ftl1951 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 25, 2021 4:51 amIt appears that Pure Fishing is retaining Van Staal and Fin Nor.
