2021 Abu Garcia

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

2021 Abu Garcia

Does anyone have any insight as to what might be new from Abu Garcia for 2021? It is their 100th Anniversary (as is Shimano's) and was wondering if anyone knew of any new higher end models being released? I am mostly a Daiwa/Shimano guy but got to collecting/using some of the 1970s Abu products and they are fun to fish. Just didn't know with most of the Revo line if it was just being replaced or something else was to be introduced. I can't find much info on the Zenon spinning reel but that is supposed to be a 2021 model as well. Thanks and best wishes on the water!

Most of what Abu had planned for 2021 was announced at ICAST 2020. You can find that info in our ICAST coverage here:

There likely won't be any further announcements until either the Classic (June) or ICAST 2021 (July).

TW has a list of spring releases for all manufacturers. They only list three BCs for ABU right now, though. Maybe some of the other products got delayed because of Corona? EU has a new Ambassadeur Beast HD 5600/1 for the year which I have not seen in the US shops yet. But I do not expect it to be a major seller anyway. Other than that, there is no new reel for the EU market this year. Anything new will come this fall or later I believe.

There are some 100th anniversary rods and reels coming out in different markets, including (but probably not limited to):

No 1500 or 2500 sized Ambassadeurs though, which is a pity.
