Daiwa's new reel??

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Daiwa's new reel??

Post by Jbc88 » Fri Apr 08, 2022 7:14 am

Looks like a 8.5 gear ratio with a shallow sv boost spool :-k

Looks like a Steez TW SV Boost. I'd rather be a cheapskate and get a used Steez TW SV and then a $100 SV Boost spool from the Zillion. Not paying these new inflated prices.

Would love to have that spool for the current new Zillion. I hope this is a more affordable reel than another $700+ Steez. Even then, reels are getting good enough I would be hard pressed to spend more than the new Zillion. I could honestly do any and everything bass/freshwater fishing I do with the last generation Zillion SV TW. Now it is just bonuses and for fun. For around $200 area the new Alphas will get just about anything done too.

Looks like this reel will take the place of what the SV Light LTD did.

This frame definitely looks "Steezy".

SV Boost that shallow should have some welcome overlap with the Gekkabijin AIR TW. With that assumption, I can see this new reel being magnesium/freshwater only.

I would like something to take the place of the SV Light, always loved my SS/SV and never got to try an SV Light. That price range might be more affordable than the current CT Steez lineup. Either way I would like to see an SV Boost Shallow spool become available.

Also I watched the video a few more times... At 41 seconds in you can see a screw facing the back of the drag star, much like the old Steez SVTW design was, not like the new CT/Zillion/Alphas is. The newer reels have the frame screw on the inside of the gear box and have a much cleaner look. It seems at the mentioned 41 second mark you see the small knot with a frame screw like the older models had. Think LowRange is right. It doesn't look to be as large as the old SV TW body though, it looks like a CT.

8.5 ratio too. Probably gets new hyper gears.

It's definitely not a Steez CT frame. There are screw holes on the outside of the gear sideplate. It has to be another variant of the current Steez SV TW.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

They need to redesign the steez tw (steez ct is perfectly fine as is, tho). That frame is outdated compared to a much less expensive reel, the zillion.

Agreed, the current Steez has gotten "long in the tooth", so to speak.

Looks like the Silver Wolf frame screws are on the inside.

Screw holes are a dead giveaway that its not a Steez CT or Zillion.

The Silver Wolf full product info is out isn't it? I think the spool print on it is SV Boost PE tune or special...something like that.
