Scorpion DC vs SLX DC

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Following this one.

The '21 Scorpion DC is near the top of my list for a spare Z-Bone I have.

I have the '17 model on a first generation Steez Compile-X heavy, and I really like it for long casts presenting larger t-rigs.

Don't the JDM Scorpion DC's run the iDC-5. Over the poxy DC-4 found in the Curado and SLX?

All of those listed run iDC5, if I buy an slx it'll be the jdm xt version the us version does have dc-4.

Hey, I like it when an older higher end platform trickles down to a budget reel. Its the other way around I don't like. The shape of the 70i is still good today.

Was a fantastic design that was underappreciated and engineered lazily...

I mean should've come in a PG option too. But good to see the tooling survived, but the SLX namesake is just way overused imho.

My vote is for the 17 Scorpion. I have a couple still that are used regularly.

You can get it as a PG with MM gears on the 17 Engetsu 100.

... if I buy an slx it'll be the jdm xt version the us version does have dc-4.
Then really only the '17 Scorp DC is comparable because the '21 Scorp DC is a 150 sized reel. It all depends on your intended application and more importantly, preferred line at that point.

So the 17 and the 21 scorpions aren't both 150s?
