New Stradic Fm

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

New Stradic Fm

Post by Bbrotz » Thu Jul 06, 2023 3:01 pm

I was looking at deals on the Stradic Fl’s and came across a picture of the new Stradic Fm. Doesn’t look much different besides the spool cuts are now diagonal vs vertical and the spool lip is now chrome. The link is broken now so I’m thinking it was accidentally added to the website.

Seems a lot of these accidental releases are made...

American Legacy fishing has a ton of stuff from Shimano. Have the new Stradic FM and new Curado 200M too. They have the Aldebaran BFS listed, maybe it is coming to the US market too? At $460 of course...

Anything ALFC unveiled today is open to pre-order so I would confirm availability here. The NRX+ inshore models looked interesting. I’m surprised no mention here of the Poison Glorious USA models.

I've seen other photos of the FM where it has a white frame and rotor, like certain previous Stradic versions.

Yeah I seen those too, I think that’s just the lighting in the pictures. If you watch the videos that were released it looks a lot nicer than the pictures.

I don't think it is white, just a matte silver finish.

In the side on image with the spiel below it outlining it's "technology" you can see it's a white finish.

Also the Curado 200 M has been shown too.

I was quite disappointed to see that they stuck with the Curado K style thumb bar which would fall apart on everyone.

they changed this back to a different one similar to the one they used in the curado 200i reels, on the 150 mgl and also on their new tranx 150 reels.

not sure why they go back to the design that I thought most people didn't like (although the dislike could have been from all the failures)

I didn't catch this till you mentioned it. I only saw the Curado M one time though, just a brief look at work. Either way, that is confusing, because I was under the impression that the 150MGL was received better than the 200K. I thought the thumb bar, ergonomics, smoothness, etc. were supposed to be superior. I never owned either so I don't have much merit, just what I had read and heard.
For the Stradic M, I will probably get one just to see if the features make much difference, but pictures I have seen don't look a lot different than the FL version...

because I was under the impression that the 150MGL was received better than the 200K
it was.

when the K first came out it was plagued with 2 main issues:

1. the thumb bar would fall apart. I believe the adhesive used wasnt holding. early reviews on the K were full of these problems.

and

2. the external brake dial was very tight in a lot of reels. the fix if i recall was to loosen a screw somewhere.

there were videos of people even claiming a factory worker's PUBIC HAIR was the problem lmao

Haha, I remember TA posting that now. I do have a few friends that fish the 200K and 150MGL, I don't own either, but both felt great to me.

The clutch button (aka Thumb Bar) was changed during production. The issues were isolated to the first production runs. It was an adhesive issue that was resolved and eliminated the adhesive and changed to a sonic welded design. We took care of every customer that had an issue. First we had replacement pads for the buttons, then replacement buttons once the welded change came to existence. The buttons were indistinguishable by looking at them.

The dials were supposed to have some tension to prevent them from moving on a hard cast or from boat vibration running down the lake.

Hair can be found in reels from time to time. Most of the people that assemble the reels are female. It sucks but it's the nature of the beast.

The M is an update to the K by going to the MGL spool. There are some other small changes as well, but it's the best way I can describe it for you guys. New Stradic M is still silver.
