Who even buys Quantum reels these days?
Fifteen years ago, i guess they were good for your budget setup, i know i got into baitcasters with Quantum stuff, but now, with all the Chinese brands, and KVD gone, i don't know how they're surviving.

Well I made that mistake and bought a Tour S3 on sale 1/2 price still paid too much. Tried their warranty service got ripped off so disappointed in that as well. Not again

I have had good luck with the quantum kinetic and energy spinning reels for the fishing I do. I just received an energy 15 spinning reel that seems good out of the box.

Quantum was my jam before I knew what a good reel was. Zebco/qu
antum was local here in Tulsa, OK and I became a 'pro staff' at 15 before I could legally enter a tournament. Quantum seems to have some die hard fans and the s3 has a long list of praise on the TW reviews.

I have a 1st-gen Smoke 100SPT. That reel goes every time I fish. It is the furthest casting reel I own and it has survived 2 fish over 9 lbs and countless fish over 5 lbs. It is still as smooth as the day I bought it and the drag is still flawless. I've owned quite a few Quantum baitcasters and never had a problem with any of them. Are they as smooth as my Daiwas? Nope, but they aren't garbage, either.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Are you fishing or aimlessly casting around?

I have a Tour Mg that’s held up pretty good. Love the flippin switch option on it. Still very smooth. Good drag. And very light.
I don’t think I’d buy a new quantum reel but the smoke HD was intriguing at the time

Re: Who even buys Quantum reels these days?
I have won a few Quantum baitcasters in tournaments over the years. I also tuned quite a few when I worked in a shop. They do okay. I'm a Daiwa guy, but my son's do fine when I give them the Quantums. I can't turn my back on them though, because they try to pick up my Daiwa's I was fixing a backlash for my oldest on his Quantum last week and I handed him a custom TD Fuego/TDZ that I was fishing. He caught a fish right away and tried not to give it back when I was done fixing his backlash! I'm not afraid to do discipline!!!

Yea back in the early to mid 2000's, Quantum did have a few reels that were good. Same thing with Pflueger. Even up close, the reels looked sharp, with well machined parts, but if you look at both brands nowadays, they look worse than $100 ali reels.
Re: Who even buys Quantum reels these days?
Typically speaking, once an OEM brand has "cornered their market", there is no longer an incentive to provide a quality and compelling product...that's not to say "innovation" and manufacturer specific engineering accomplishments and unique design concepts, were ever a foundation of most OEM reels.
