Calcutta Conquest SE

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Calcutta Conquest SE

Post by KOmar » Fri Nov 24, 2023 10:25 am

The new CC SE will be released in January.
I saw that plat.co.jp also posted an announcement for pre-orders.

The specifications that I found out are:
30HG and 31HG
33/19mm spool
7.4:1
4kg drag
220gr
8lb-100m
13/1 BB
84mm handle
Color is gunmetal

Why? Conquest BFS is a very capable all round light duty reel with similar brake. We want new Metanium Dc, new Posion Adrena and Antares. Shallow Spool is a scam.

Literally smiling ear to ear right now. I love my 100HG so much, but hate to buy the same reel over and over. Hoping this model has the higher tier micro brass gears.

I feel I need to save up for one  Did not expect a smaller CC to be honest.

That's exciting I think.

Hopefully more info/pics will be posted here soon.

Any idea of price? I have a Conquest BFS and a 100DC so I will probably be buying one of these

I am smiling as well I may have to get on this pre order and just surprise the wife with her own that she’ll never use. 😆
Im definitely looking forward to seeing how this one performs over the previous model cause it’s just like a watch in terms of precision and performance

Frame wise will it be smaller than the current Conquest BFS 23?

I'm thinking it will be identical frame and gears as the 2021 100HG version. The weights are both at 220g or 7.8oz. This was the opposite case for the BFS version, the weights were different and gear ratios matched the Aldebaran BFS. People assumed Shimano would just use the aluminum micro gears and they did. I figure being the same ratio and weight is a good indicator that this reel will be an identical frame and tier one brass micro gears with Infinity Drive.

I am planning to replace my Zillion SV1000 with this reel. Plan to run 10lb or 12lb fluorocarbon and use it on my 7'2"Medium xfast rod. It would be interesting if Shimano used FTB rather than SVS for this version. I assume they will stick with SVS, and the 100HG I have is pretty good already for light stuff so this one should be too. I ended up fishing my 100HG on a MH rod, but when it was on a Medium or softer MH it could throw 3/16 plus a light worm very well...

I was hoping for a similar size to the OG 50 but with the specs you mentioned I believe you are correct with it being relative to the 100. Appreciate the feedback

So just under 400, if it has a clicking drag then I’m sold….

I would bet anything it does. I am guessing it will be identical to the 100HG, but with a shallow spool and gunmetal color. That is good though, 100HG is one of the best reels of all time (that I've used).
