Daiwa costal 150 sv gear swap

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Daiwa costal 150 sv gear swap

Post by Sh402 » Wed Apr 10, 2024 4:12 pm

Hey guys got a gear question. I read on another forum that the tatula elite platform is the same as costal 150 other then paint, bearings and handle. If so could I swap my current 7:1 gears to the elite 8 gears? Anyone have any clue if this is true?

Thanks in advance

Yes, that will be a drop-in replacement.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I literally just swapped in a Salamandura 150 SV spool (just a red Coastal 150 SV spool) into an 8 gear Elite Long Cast reel tonight and was very impressed with its casting compared to the stock Elite Long Cast spool. Was casting a no. 5 skirted, in-line, single blade spinner.

Definitely keep that reel!
