Post by bassfishin14 » Mon Aug 29, 2011 1:16 pm

hey guys,

i was wondering what size line you guys reconmend for 1/4-3/8oz jijs? i have a 742 dobyns extreme that i use for this paired up with a shimano chronarch 50mg.

i was thinking mabe 12lb? or should i drop down to 10? the lake i usally fish with this setup is pretty clear. (10feet) and it donsnt have much cover except for big laydowns and rock piles.

what would you guys reconmmend?

I think 12lb would be your best bet. Something thin, if visibility is an issue.

If you can keep the line and hooked fish away from structure, .29 - .31 mm diameter, typical 10lb. test.

For rocks, .33mm diameter, typical 12lb. test.

Since you use a baitcaster, if you ever get birds-nests, these create kinks in the line which can severely weaken the line... in that case, you might have to go with an even larger diameter line.

Good choice. It is thin for its label rating..If you think you went too light, just pop up to the 14 next time..

I would say 10 given the lake clarity and lack of cover.
