What is a good knot to tie to have a loose connection so your topwater can work well?

A king sling is what I use most of the time.

Tie your favorite knot to a snap :big grin:

I would use a snap or split-ring and tie a closed knot, they tend to be stronger than a loop. What diameter and type of line?

I also tie directly to a snap...but mostly because I can never tie a loop knot I feel comfortable with  Use a decent quality snap (not the cheap snap-swivels) and something else will break before it does.

I have never been a big fan of snaps, I prefer the Rapala knot. You do have to make sure the knot is small otherwise the front treble will catch the knot. Since I don’t use snaps I cannot say if this happens with them or not. I wouldn't think they would.

I still prefer knots.

2X don't much like snap I've seen to many open up over the years.

x3 Rapala hands down, after several knots you will get the hang of it and tie it properly.

If the lure comes with a split ring, I'll use it. I don't like adding split rings or using snaps. I feel that adding them changes the way a lure works. I've also had problems with snaps failing to the point I don't really trust them. Yes, I've used a variety of quality snaps. Fishing areas with lots of vegetation, snaps seem to pick up more than just the knot/lure.

I used to tie the Rapala knot. I now use the Non Slip Mono. It is a little easier to tie & I've had nothing but success with it.
