Best braid for finesse spinning
Best braid for finesse spinning
What have you found to be the best braid for finesse spinning applications with a flouro leader?
What brand and color?
Seems there are a lot of whiteish colored lines out now, but to me these seem like they might be more visible than the greens.
Thanks

Re: Best braid for finesse spinning
Depends on how finesse you're talking about.
I've been using Power Pro 5lb microline in yellow for panfishing and it works great.
I spend more time fishing than re-tying, especially dipping for crappies in timber. I just pull gradually and the jig head straightens out. Before, I would break off and have to re-tie over and over again. I can also pull slabs out of the thickets without having to worry about the line getting all knicked up.
I can't comment on the castability because all I did this past summer was dip timber at Truman Lake.

Re: Best braid for finesse spinning
Last year, I went 100% braid on my spinning setups and have used about 4 different lines.
The first I tried was 8lb (maybe 10lb, can't remember) Power Pro. A good reliable line, but I wanted something a little smoother.
I then moved to my favorite braid at the time: Sufix Performance Braid in 10lb test. I was a slight improvement overall from PP, but at only 4 carriers, it still wasn't the smoothest. I also had some wind knot issues with the 10lb PB.
I wanted to go with a 6-8 carrier line so I went with Spiderwire Ultracast. I actually chose 10lb InvisiBraid, which is basically the same line, only white. My hope was that this "invisible" braid (which is just white) would be easier for me to see than the dark green braid. I was pretty happy with the line's performance. I twas noticeably smoother than the PP and PB. However, my hopes that white would be easier to see were dashed when I found it was very hard to see when the water had any glare on it. It also became very dirty after fishing for a while.
I was getting ready to go back to a dark green line and buy some Ultracast when Sufix 832 hit the market. I had tried some 20lb on my Sol baitcaster and really like it, so I bought a spool of 10lb 832 in Neon Lime. It is still on my spinning reel and I haven't had any problems yet. It is the smoothest 10lb braid I've used and handles very well. It's also one of the quietest braids I've used. Plus it sinks, which is a plus for me when fishing dropshots. I would highly recommend Sufix 832 for most situations, and especially on spinning reels.

If you want smoothness get Samurai.
I use Samurai on the pixzilla and yellow power pro on the patriarch spinning.
They yellow allows you to follow the line much easier when a fish picks up the bait.

10# or 15# moss green Power Pro with 6# or 8# Berkley 100% fluorocarbon has worked very well for me.
Re: Best braid for finesse spinning
20lb samurai nothing smoother yet.and performs better then any other braid I had used to this point.

Re: Best braid for finesse spinning
give the new Kanzen a try , it's worth it . I'm using the 15lb /4lb on one rig , for Walleye , no issues as of yet with the line .
Re: Best braid for finesse spinning
Sufix 832 has worked well this year for me. I use 30# with a leader. I'm sure you could get by with a lighter line in many apps. I fish a lot of cover.
Re: Best braid for finesse spinning
I use 8-10lb Crystal braid. works great.

i've used power pro and 832 for my spinning reels. both seem to work fine. i "do" seem to prefer 832, though. i have 10 and 15 lb on the spinning reels.
